Building the platforms other teams depend on

My career has been built on four cornerstones: AI-driven operations, infrastructure automation, cloud-native data pipelines, and the cloud database platforms that run on top of them. I run strategy, budget, and 24x7 operations for a 60-person organization at Lincoln Financial Group, where I've modernized a petabyte-scale data estate onto AWS, cut annual run cost by $1.2M, and used AIOps-driven observability to cut mean time to recovery by 73%.

That estate spans everything from legacy Oracle Exadata appliances to modern AWS-native and open-source data platforms. My job has never really been about the individual systems. It's the automation, governance, and AI-augmented operating model that lets a lean team run all of it reliably at enterprise scale. I build the data pipelines and platforms that analytics and AI teams depend on, and I partner with business and security executives to fund and sequence multi-year transformation. I'm deepening that strategic lens now through Wharton's executive CTO program.

Where I lead

AI & Automation

Built an AIOps practice that applies anomaly detection to unified telemetry and triggers event-driven runbook automation, cutting incident MTTR from 4.5 hours to 1.2 hours.

Infrastructure as Code

Replaced manual provisioning with self-service, compliance-approved environments delivered in under 24 hours, down from 7 days.

Cloud Data Platforms

Set and delivered the roadmap that moved 60% of transactional workloads onto AWS in 18 months, with validated cutovers and zero business-impact rollbacks.

Data Pipelines & Governance

Own the data foundation under a petabyte-scale, 800+ database estate, with enterprise governance covering encryption, access, and audit evidence.

Career highlights

Lincoln Financial Group

Mar 2021 – Present · Radnor, PA
Director, Data Platforms, Infrastructure Engineering & Operations

Own strategy, P&L, and 24x7 operations for a 60-person organization with 14 direct reports, running an 800+ database, 1.5+ PB estate across on-premises and AWS. This is the data foundation under Lincoln's annuities, life, and retirement businesses. Set the multi-year roadmap and its funding case, own vendor governance and risk posture, and deliver through automation, cloud modernization, and AI-driven operations.

  • Cloud modernization. Set and delivered a multi-year roadmap that moved 60% of transactional workloads to AWS in 18 months, with validated cutovers and zero business-impact rollbacks.
  • Cost. Cut annual operating spend 18%, about $1.2M, through rightsizing, reserved pricing, storage tiering, automation, and vendor renegotiation, with no loss of SLA attainment.
  • Resilience. Reduced incident MTTR from 4.5 hours to 1.2 hours by standing up an AIOps practice that applies anomaly detection to unified telemetry, catching emerging issues before they reach customers and triggering event-driven runbook automation. Infrastructure as code and self-service provisioning now deliver fully replicated, compliance-approved environments in under 24 hours, down from 7 days.
  • Risk and compliance. Established enterprise data governance covering encryption, privileged access, audit evidence, and patch cadence, clearing regulatory audits with reduced findings.
  • Executive influence. Authored and presented the enterprise AIOps strategy to the CTO and SVP leadership team, framing the operating model, maturity path, and investment case, and won executive endorsement.
  • Organization. Built and scaled a cross-functional DBA, SRE, and automation team with career frameworks and succession planning, lifting retention and operational maturity.

Envestnet | Yodlee

Jun 2017 – Feb 2021 · Berwyn, PA
Lead Database Administrator
  • Team leadership. Led and mentored a 15-person database organization, setting engineering standards and career development while driving an automation and infrastructure-as-code program that replaced manual operations.
  • Cloud migration. Led Oracle-to-AWS managed Postgres migrations end to end, from conversion through validated cutover, removing commercial license cost and migration risk for the wealth management platform.
  • Fleet operations. Governed lifecycle, patching, and high availability across a 125+ instance, multi-terabyte estate, codifying the standards and runbooks that made reliability repeatable.
  • Continuity. Architected replication and disaster recovery to strict RPO and RTO targets, including near-zero-downtime upgrades on revenue systems.

Corporation Service Company

Jul 2007 – May 2017 · Wilmington, DE
Team Lead and Senior Database Administrator
  • Leadership and delivery. Grew from senior engineer to team lead over a decade, building the database organization serving the legal and financial services business units and becoming the escalation point the company called on for its hardest production problems.
  • Platform and efficiency. Architected clustered, encrypted, highly available platforms for business-critical applications including enterprise ERP, then consolidated the estate through virtualization, centralized monitoring, and templated provisioning, lowering hardware footprint while protecting regulated client data.

Evoke Technologies

May 2004 – Jun 2007 · Hyderabad, India
Software Engineer

Shipped multi-tier application stacks, data models, and legacy-to-target migrations.
